Fall Shooting & Skills Program

2019 ABA Fall Shooting & Skills Program

The ABA Fall Shooting Program allows players the opportunity to get the valuable repetition needed to become a more consistent shooter. Players are placed in groups of 4 and are taken through various drills that will produce game like shots. Each player will get an average of 300 shots per one hour session for an average of 600 shots per week. This will amount to 3,000+ shots in this 6 week program.

The program will utilize “The Gun” shooting machine (as shown below) which is an outstanding tool to allow for a maximum number of shots in a short period of time.

The ABA Summer Skills Program will help develop the following:

Live Ball Moves: Players will learn multiple live ball moves that are designed to blow past their defenders. Too many camps focus on crazy dribble combos that will never work in a game. Our moves are complex, but efficient. We focus on footwork in order to shift the defenders.

Separation/Mid-Range Moves: Players will learn a variety of separation moves to get space from their defender and allow them to get an easy shot off. The better the competition, the better defenders will be. Our separation moves are designed to get players 2-3 feet of separation from their defender for an uncontested jump shot. There’s no need to settle for a contested fade away jumper when you can create space easily.

Triple Threat Reads: Our triple threat series is designed to give players an option to attack the defender no matter how they are being guarded. When players learn how to read defender’s feet, they understand how and where to attack them. After learning our triple threat series there should be no way a defender can stop an offensive player. We teach a counter for every situation.

Ball Screen Reads: Basketball is changing rapidly. Any high level game you watch, and even any middle school game for that matter, there will be an array of ball screens. Players will learn the true art behind a ball screen: how to decipher what coverage the defense is in, how to make sure their primary defender is ran into the screen every time, and how to make the correct read on each play. If done correctly, the defense has no chance of stopping the offensive team. Player’s will learn numerous ball screen reads to attack the defense no matter what coverage they may be in.

Finishing Moves: It is our opinion that if a player can finish 70 percent of the time around the rim they will be, at the least, an all conference player. Players will learn numerous moves and techniques to finish around the rim and over larger players in the paint area.
